Helga Trüpel was born 1958 in Moers, Northrhine-Westfalia, Germany. She obtained her PhD in Bremen 1988, and is a founding member of the Green Party in 1980.
She was a Member of Federal Parliament of Bremen from 1987 to 2004 and a Senator for Culture from 1991 to1985. In 1995, she gave birth to her daughter. From 2004 to 2019 Helga Trüpel was a Member of the European Parliament, where she was the spokeswoman for budget and Culture of the Green-Group, working on greening the Budget, human rights, cultural diversity, education, media literacy, regulation of digital monopolies as well as the copyright reform.
